STATEMENT
Every object has its origin. A time when it began and a place where it was created. After the novelty of its innovation has worn off, many items are neglected, ignored, or discarded.
My art explores what becomes of what is left behind. What was once shiny, gleaming and cutting-edge becomes rusted, decayed, or obsolete. These residual elements guide my imagery. There is a rhythmic movement present in these forgotten spaces. A textural harmony amongst the hidden nooks. In my art I aim to capture a sense of history in each physical entity.
The foundation of my process relies upon the building of layers. Bouncing back and forth between drawing and painting allows the viewer to see the evolution of each surface. Like the subject matter that I am portraying, there should be evidence of the history of each finished piece.
